The Next 36
27-Aug-2010Do you have what it takes to be one of The Next 36?
This fall, the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at University of Toronto is launching a new program designed to introduce Canada’s most promising students to entrepreneurship. The program, called The Next 36, will be hosted at the University of Toronto in the summer of 2011. Students selected to the program will be given full funding to work directly with some of the nation’s leading business executives in bringing a product to market. And this is where we need your help: please encourage one or two of your very best students to apply this fall for what promises to be an unrivaled opportunity.
The goal of The Next 36 is simple: to give 36 of Canada’s most promising undergraduates the academic foundation, practical skills, business mentorship, and aspirations to become the country’s next generation of entrepreneurial leaders. The program is extra-curricular and open to students entering their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year at any Canadian university and in any academic discipline. All successful applicants will receive a full scholarship for the program (estimated cost: $25,000).
The program has two components:
· A New Venture Challenge where students work teams of 4 over 9 months to conceive, prototype, pilot, and launch a new mobile device application with the support of programmers, seed funding, and mentorship from renowned Canadian business leaders
· An Entrepreneurship Institute in which students spend 140 hours in class studying with international faculty and Canadian business leaders and entrepreneurs.
