The Student Biotechnology Network COVID-19 Response
The Student Biotechnology Network (SBN) considers the safety and wellbeing of our members as a top priority during these challenging times. Therefore, we have decided to postpone the annual SBN Biotech Expo conference until further notice. This is in keeping with our civic responsibility to help curtail the spread of the SARs-CoV-2 virus by limiting physical social interactions. Despite this action, our commitment to inspiring students and assisting them to succeed in the biotech industry is unwavering. Please allow me to share with you some of the initiatives the SBN leadership is exploring:
Maintaining Membership and Engagement:
The SBN executive team is actively exploring virtual platforms and initiatives through which we can continue to fulfill our mandate. We will continue to discuss options for engaging students with the biotech community, and look forward to announcing any opportunities that may be developed.
Affordability and Accessibility:
The current pandemic brings potential financial hardship, particularly to students. The SBN is primed to alleviate the financial barriers that might hinder students wishing to engage with the biotech industry. Current members of the SBN will receive further discounted prices for remaining events in the 2020 to 2021 fiscal year. We will continue to monitor the situation and may announce additional accommodations as the situation evolves.
Without a doubt, these are truly unprecedented times. The SBN executive team wishes you, your families and colleagues good health and safety. Thank you for your continued support, we look forward to emerging from these challenging times stronger than ever, committed to serving the biotech industry and our members.
Healthy Wishes,
Leo Chen
President
