The Office of the Vice President Research & International oversees UBC’s research strategy and infrastructure, and is the first point of contact for peer institutions worldwide. The VPRI portfolio includes administrative support units that provide key services such as grant proposal development, research contracts, international agreements, ethical review, and the management of intellectual property. UBC has collaborative agreements with several hundred peer institutions worldwide, and the VPRI works to develop and sustain these relationships through international research partnerships and graduate student mobility agreements. UBC ranks among the top 35 research-intensive universities in the world and is Western Canada’s largest biotechnology and health research institution.
